I can tell you this much, after leveling a ton of characters to 80, that I wished I had a way to make things faster. I currently own 5 80s, a mid 70, a couple in the 60s and a couple in the 50s and did much of it the hard way.
I did try free guides, but found them lacking key parts. And since they are free, they did not have the support that you really come to need when trying to figure things out. In the end I found myself needing to repeat the same processes over and over… which was good as I had a path to follow, but it was far from the best method out there.
I did not want to be locked into one character at max level for too long either, so I needed a fix in a hurry. That is when I found Zygor Guides.
Zygor Guides has really helped me level my many characters, and very fast. I easily had 3 characters at level 80 faster than many of my friends had one, which was great as things changed in a hurry.
After WotLK I decided that I really liked my hunter, so that was going to be my first 80. This served two purposes as I had a character that could fast claim quest mobs for the huge competition I was about to face. It helped and I missed getting a world first by less than 24 hours. But I found that I was one of a huge group of hunters at 80 already. This could not work.

After that I knew that I needed my money character to the cap, so it was time to level my warlock. How many of us really have level 80 bank alts, eh? This is my miner, so she needed cold weather flying ASAP, so I needed to level again. Once again, Zygor Guides got me there really fast.
Shortly after this there was a situation with my guild and I left. It was sorta on bad terms, but I knew of a group that was looking for others. And I sorta turned my back on them right around WotLK so busted my butt leveling my warrior to raid with them again (I used to be their MT.) Thanks to Zygor Guides I was there, once again, within the week… just to find out they did not need a tank. Next time I will learn to ask first! But, they did need a mage… sooo…..
Zygor Guides was pulled out for the 5th time, and sure enough I was caught up in no time. And since they had a head start in gearing I was up and raid worthy within a couple of weeks.
I still use Zygor Guides, but I do not really need to level fast anymore. I have a 73 rogue, 60 druid and priest, a 50 paladin, and of course the 55 DK (I have leveled a DK to 67 twice already.)
In short, if you really are looking to level fast, you need to really look into Zygor Guides. It will give you all the ammunition you need to be at 80 in no time flat. My five level 80s are proof.
